Obama to GOP: “No, you can’t drive!”

Thursday evening, at a political fundraising dinner held by the held by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), President Barack Obama compared the GOP to a bad driver, telling his audience of the GOP, “After they drove the car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want to keys back. No! You can’t drive. We don’t want to have to go back into the ditch. We just got the car out.”

Oklahoma GOP, Tea Party to Start State-Run Militia

According to multiple reports originating from the Associated Press, it would seem that some members of the Oklahoma State GOP, as well as leaders within that state’s Tea Party organization, are working together to form a state-sponsored militia to counter what they claim is “the over-reaching of the federal government,” most notably the recent health care legislation.

Hate 101: Gay and Lesbian Transphobia – The Consequences

41 years after Stonewall, those who sought to play leadership roles to promote their own self interests, mainly remaining well paid leaders or popular authority figures, continue to promote an agenda of transphoba that has accomplished nothing beyond increasing their wealth and popularity.

Hate 101: Gay and Lesbian Transphobia – Introduction

Those who remember me from OurChart know that I track transgender hate crimes fairly closely (I also cover hate crimes by or against others), and I reported on the murders of transwomen far too often under the tagline “And In Other News.” I would carry on after OurChart’s management wrecked the site on another site, until it became apparent no one was paying attention, and my coverage was starting to depress me on several levels. I still continue to cover that topic, here on this site.

Supreme Court Removes Campaign Spending Limits on Corporations

This effectively ends democracy, as one person one vote becomes one dollar one vote, with corporations holding trillions of dollars to sway any election their way. Look to Haiti to see how this will effect those who are not wealthy, and the Peoples Republic of China to see how the government will operate in relation to the governed.

Brown Defeats Coakley, End of Obama Agenda

Whatever hopes the Democratic Party had for getting things done just went right out the window, since now the GOP has a firm block for filibustering anything they don’t like. I guess the only upside for many Democrats is the Joe Lieberman just became politically irrelevant to both the Democrats and the GOP, barring some unlikely defection from the GOP.

9th US Circuit Court Rules DOMA Unconstitutional

“To the extent that the application of DOMA serves to preclude the provision of health coverage to a same-sex spouse of a legally married federal employee because of the employee’s and his or her spouse’s sex or sexual orientation, DOMA as applied contravenes the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution and is therefor unconstitutional”

Did Congress Fund Relocating Hamas to US?

I have no love loss for Obama, and in fact I disagree with how he has handled many things. But these lies distract from the truth, and make the truth to seem to be lies. And, I believe, they have but one purpose. To bring down the United States through a campaign of disinformation.

Congress Passes Hate Crimes Legislation

Current federal hate crimes law only covers attacks motivated by race, color, national origin or religion. The new bill, when signed by President Obama, adds sexuality and gender identity, as well as protects military personnel from attacks arising from bias against the military. The new bill also removes the requirement that federal investigation and prosecution could only take place if the attack took place while participating or attempting to participate in a federally protected activity, such as voting or going to school.

Census Worker Found Hanged

A part-time US Census worker, Bill Sparkman, 51, was found hanged from a tree on September 12, 2009 in a remote section of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Southeast Kentucky. According to an anonymous police source, the word “Fed” had been written on Sparkman’s chest.
