Hate 101: Gay and Lesbian Transphobia – The Causes
Centuries of fear, ignorance, and intolerance have brought us to this point. Decades of leaders with motives totally unrelated to our needs keep us here. The goals amongst the LGBT population in general are the same, equality for everyone, and an end to the bigotry and violence directed at all people. Recognizing the problem is just part of the solution. How do we stop fighting amongst ourselves, and achieve those goals?
“Miss Beverly Hills” Advocates Death for Homosexuals
It is also not the first time in recent history such views have been promoted. While Ashley may not wear a swastika armband, or have a funny little mustache, she is rapidly becoming the new face of hatred and potentially violent intolerance, Aryan looking young models who largely promote a patriarchal view of female sexuality, while they espouse hateful and violent views towards specific groups.
An Open Letter to Ronald Gold
Last week, The Bilerico Project welcomed their newest contributing writer, Ronald Gold, co-founder of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and a gay rights activist for decades. What became clear, in his very first article, was that he had no concept as to just how inclusive Bilerico is. The article, one of the most transphobic I have ever seen outside of the usual religious extremist sites and publications, was pulled shortly after it appeared, along with the hundreds of angry replies to it.
Texans Ban Marriage, in 2005?
It would appear, in the race to add constitutional amendments to prevent LGBT persons from becoming equal with their heteronormative counterparts, that Texas, as usual, took some fairly extreme measures. Because, in that effort to keep inequality legal, 22 words brought LGBT Texans much closer to equality than heteronormative Texans would have guessed, or wanted. [...]
Hate 101: A Tale of Two Soldiers
In the end, without a statement from Maj. Hasan himself, we may never know what the actual cause or causes is or were behind what he allegedly did. While he is off the ventilator, he remains in ICU and, at last report, is not communicating (he is either unconscious or refusing to speak, there is no clarification).
Did Congress Fund Relocating Hamas to US?
I have no love loss for Obama, and in fact I disagree with how he has handled many things. But these lies distract from the truth, and make the truth to seem to be lies. And, I believe, they have but one purpose. To bring down the United States through a campaign of disinformation.
When Will Obama Act?
…what is needed is not pretty speeches, not flowery press releases. We need action, leadership, and courage. We need a President willing to do what is right and just, regardless of politics, like Johnson. We need a tough Commander in Chief to end a senseless policy that harms national security, like Truman. We need a leader willing to take bold action for the good of ALL Americans, like FDR. We need a President who actually believes it is his or her job to uphold ALL of the Bill of Rights (especially Amendment XIV, Section 1), not just the parts he or she agrees with.
Hate 101: The Media, Birthers, Teabaggers, and Deathers
One look at the news over the last few weeks, and anyone would reasonably think the United States was about to come apart at the seams. To say the national debate on various issues has become a bit heated would be an understatement. From gun-toting protesters to shouting matches at so-called “town hall meetings,” to also-ran and former politicians attacking everything about this country, hardly a day goes by when many of us aren’t left wondering what the hell is going on.
Misogynist Racist kills 3, wounds 9 outside Pittsburgh
He had been blogging for months, stating his intentions, and yet no one saw this coming.
Carter Splits with Church over Women’s Rights, Equality
It was, however, an unavoidable decision when the convention’s leaders, quoting a few carefully selected Bible verses and claiming that Eve was created second to Adam and was responsible for original sin, ordained that women must be “subservient” to their husbands and prohibited from serving as deacons, pastors or chaplains in the military service.
